Appointment of three European judges

Brussels, 26/07/2013 (Agence Europe) - The EU member states' permanent representatives appointed three judges to the European General Court on Wednesday 24 July: Egidijus Bieliunas (of Lithuania) for six years from 1 September 2013; Miro Prek (of Slovenia) has been given a renewed six-year term of office, starting on 1 September 2013; as has Vesna Tomljenoviæ (of Croatia), after being appointed on 1 July 2013 as the first Croatian judge at the European General Court (until 31 August 2013). There is at least one judge per member state at the General Court, appointed for a renewable six-year term. They select one of their number to be the General Court president for a three-year term.
