EXTERNAL ACTION / (ae) montenegro

19/06/2013 (Agence Europe) - Füle says reform momentum must be maintained. On 18 June, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle called on Montenegro to work on the national challenges that have accumulated in the country. At the end of his meeting with Montenegro's Prime Minister Milo Djukanovic, Füle underlined that it is “now essential to proceed with the adoption of the constitutional amendments strengthening the independence and accountability of the judiciary as recommended by the Venice Commission”. Montenegro should also strengthen the confidence in its commitment and ability to progress in all issues relating to the rule of law, Füle stated. He said that the screening process of the accession negotiations is well under way but that it is important to maintain momentum in the reforms. (CG/transl.fl)
