Brussels, 11/06/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 12-13 June, the Commissioner for Education, Youth, Culture and Multilingualism, Androulla Vassiliou, will take part in a CEDEFOP conference in Salonika on work-based training and apprenticeships. Ahead of the conference, the commissioner confirmed that “tackling youth unemployment is an essential priority for the European Union”. She also highlighted the objectives in the new Commission strategy, “Rethinking Education”, presented on 20 November 2012, which involve ensuring tha, “education and learning systems provide young people with the skills and qualifications necessary for finding a job”. More than 150 experts in vocational education and training, as well as members of the European Commission, representatives of member states and the social partners will take part in the meeting.
