Brussels, 11/06/2013 (Agence Europe) - Strikes by air traffic controllers had already broken out in France on Tuesday 11 June as Siim Kallas, in Strasbourg, was presenting the Single European Sky 2+ (see other article), which seeks to speed up reform of the air traffic control sector. However, most of disturbances in the aviation sector are expected to take place during the day on Wednesday 12 June, with around 10 different countries responding to the strike call made by the European Transport Workers Federation (ETF). Strikes, works-to-rule and rallies are expected to take place in protest against the liberalisation of the air traffic control sector included in this new package, as well as the generally perceived dogmatic approach of the Commission, which, according to François Ballestero, the political secretary of the ETF, is putting severe pressure on the workers.
