30/05/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 28 May, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle called again on Montenegro to make progress on its reforms - including those on the rule of law (see EUROPE 10847). “It is time for a swift adoption of constitutional amendments strengthening the independence and accountability of the judiciary (…). It is also important to have well-prepared action plans for chapters 23 (judicial apparatus and fundamental rights) and 24 (justice, freedom and security), taking into account comments of all relevant stakeholders”, he said, after a meeting with Montenegro's minister for justice, Darko Pajovic. Podgorica should work on a credible roadmap to investigate and follow up corruption and organised crime systematically, Füle stated. On 30 May - along with the leader of the opposition party Positive Montenegro, Darko Parjovic - Füle reiterated that the opposition must play a constructive role. (CG/transl.fl)
