Brussels, 14/05/2013 (Agence Europe) - The European Investment Bank (EIB) last week decided to grant a €140 million loan to finance wind farms in Lower Austria. A contract for a first instalment of €28 million was signed on 3 May between the European institution and the Erste Bank der österreichischen Sparkassen AG, an intermediary bank that will act as a financial intermediary for the first tranche. Wind farms of a total 150 MW capacity are to be built in several districts of that region. The renewable energy specialist and project promoter Energiepark Bruck an der Leitha will build and operate the facilities. Turbines for the first wind farms will be obtained from the manufacturer Enercon. With this project, Austria is taking forward its ambitious project to expand its renewable energy capacity.
