Brussels, 26/04/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 25 April, the European Commission launched a new stage in the infringement proceedings against Slovakia, referring it today to the Court of Justice of the EU. Despite a reasoned opinion sent to the Slovakian authorities by the Commission at the end of November (see EUROPE 10736), Bratislava has not brought its national legislation into line.
Cypriot teachers in Greece. On Thursday 25 April, the Commission sent a reasoned opinion to Nicosia, asking it to review its rules on the pension system - a system which does not take account of the period worked by Cypriot teachers in Greece. However, this is against the principle of coordinating social security systems in the EU.
Luxembourg's fixed term contract (CDD). The Commission has noted - in the form of a reasoned opinion - abuse in Luxembourg's university and entertainment sector, where workers are not informed of the possibilities for a permanent post when the opportunity presents itself. (JK/transl.fl)
