Brussels, 11/04/2013 (Agence Europe) - On 19 April, Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Füle had a meeting with the Secretary General of the OSCE (Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe), Lamberto Zannier, to discuss ways of enhancing cooperation between the two organisations. He underlined the “excellent cooperation” between the Commission, European External Action Service and the OSCE and said that “the active presence of the OSCE in the Western Balkans is seen also as contribution to help these countries move forward on their respective paths towards further European integration”. The commissioner also underlined the importance of the OSCE's role in a number of the EU's neighbouring regions, including the Eastern Partnership region and the countries of Central Asia. He said that its presence in these regions helped partner countries to make progress in the areas of reform and democratic values. (CG/transl.fl)
