09/04/2013 (Agence Europe) - President re-elected. On 7 April, the outgoing president of Montenegro, Filip Vujanovic, was re-elected with 51.21% of the vote against Miodrag Lekic, with a turnout of 60%, the electoral authorities announced on 8 April. President since 2008, Vujanovic (Democratic Party of Socialists) is now beginning his third mandate. Criticising electoral fraud and the manipulation of electoral registers, Lekic stressed that he was going to call on the EU to study the situation. In the opinion of the international observers, the elections were administered “efficiently and professionally” - they were free and fair, and fundamental rights were respected. However, allegations of the abusive use of state resources, and an unclear line between the activities of the state and the campaigns of the candidates, continue to be at odds with international standards, they added.
