Parliament starts tough debate on aid to fishing 2014-2020

Brussels, 20/02/2013 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 18 February, the committee on fisheries of the European Parliament examined the amendments (2,445!) to the European Maritime and Fisheries Fund (EMFF) over the period 2014-2020. It was divided over Community support for the modernisation (and particularly the renewal) of the EU fishing fleet.

The two main priorities defended by rapporteur Alain Cadec (EPP, France) are as follows:
