Brussels, 31/01/2013 (Agence Europe) - Recalling the conclusions of the Foreign Affairs Council on 10 December on the association agreement with Ukraine, High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton called on Kiev, on 30 January, to make a “breakthrough” in EU-Kiev relations and to “take determined action to achieve tangible progress on the benchmarks set in the conclusions”. “The benchmarks are clearly achievable but time is short”, Ashton stated at the end of her meeting with the new foreign affairs minister, Leonid Kozhara, ahead of the summit on 25 February. After meeting Kozhara, Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Füle again underlined that the agreement could be signed at the partnership summit in Vilnius at the end of February. “I am looking forward to visiting Kiev (…) to get more insight into Ukraine's objectives and recent developments (…) I look forward to working (…) for the political association and economic integration to modernise Ukraine”, Füle said.
