09/01/2013 (Agence Europe) - Whale derivative products, WTO examines complaints made against EU by Canada and Norway. The special group of the dispute settlement body tasked with handling the complaints made by Ottawa and Oslo against European measures prohibiting the import and sales of whale derivative products (DS 400 and DS 401) will hold a meeting with the stakeholders in Geneva from 18 to 20 February. Certain sessions of the meeting will be open to the public. A single panel was set in place in April 2011 to rule on the complaints brought by Canada and Norway against the EU's ban on the trade in whale products (see EUROPE 10366). (EH/transl.fl)
