Brussels, 14/12/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Friday 14 December, the European Commission announced it had earmarked €56 million for the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) as part of a two-year national programme under the instrument for pre-accession assistance (IPA). Funding will be used to support the country's reforms in the justice system, the economy, the agricultural sector and the environment.
Funds allocated under the IPA will also support reform of public administration and help upgrade two border crossings with Serbia and with Albania. “This will result in a more efficient processing of commercial and non-commercial traffic between the countries”, the Commission states in a press release.
FYROM will also take part in a number of EU actions in the fields of research, energy, education and business development. (CG/transl.jl)
