Brussels, 07/12/2012 (Agence Europe) - Burkina Faso will be able to count on a further €25 million in food aid, the European Commission announced on Friday 7 December. This funding will support the Burkina Faso government in its response to the food crisis.
The aid, channelled through the World Food Programme (WFP), will be given as a priority to families headed by women and including elderly people as well as very young children. A highly nutritious food box will be provided for four months to 22,852 households - in other words to over 137,000 people. Part of the funds will be used to give 32,406 households food or money in exchange for works of common interest, such as the repair of access roads, as part of the Food for Work programme.
