15/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - Investment decision signed between Bulgaria and Gazprom on South Stream. On Thursday 15 November, Bulgaria's Prime Minister Boiko Borisov attended the signing of a protocol between the national energy company, Bulgarian Energy Holding, and the Russian gas company, Gazprom, concerning the final investment decision for the Bulgarian section of the South Stream gas pipeline project. Jointly headed by Gazprom and the Italian energy company ENI (40% each), in addition to French EDF (20%), South Stream is to carry Russian gas under the Black Sea to Bulgaria where the gas pipeline will then divide in two - one towards Greece and Italy, and the other to Austria via Serbia, Hungary and Slovenia. South Stream, which will have a 63 billion cubic metre capacity annually, is to see light of day in 2018. (EH/transl.jl)
