EXTERNAL ACTION / (ae) trade

14/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - Azarov promises no export restrictions from Ukraine. Distancing himself from the comments of his Minister for Agrarian Policy Mykola Prysiazniuk who, in mid-October, announced an embargo on Ukrainian grain exports from 15 November, Prime Minister Mykola Azarov gave assurances on 13 November that his country, a major producer of cereals, had no intention of restricting its exports despite its reduced harvest. “There will be no embargo or restrictions. We have plentiful reserves and forecasts for next year's harvest are good”, he said. Following the undenied comments from Prysiazniuk, wheat prices rose on international financial markets, raising EU fears communicated by Agriculture Commissioner Dacian Ciolos (see EUROPE 10718).
