Brussels, le 14/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Tuesday 13 November, the European finance ministers reaffirmed their commitment to provide not less than €7.2 billion to fund the rapid implementation of the fight against climate change for the period 2010-2012. The EU27 stressed that despite the difficult economic situation and strict budgetary constraints, the commitments made would be upheld. They also approved the preliminary report on the resources provided by the EU in 2012 to fund the “fast-start measures” to be presented to the UN climate conference (COP 18) to be held in Doha from 26 November to 7 December. The EU is also committed to continuing its financial contribution beyond 2012 and will undertake to find ways of increasing this funding for the period 2013-2020. (EL/transl.fl)
