07/11/2012 (Agence Europe) - Ashton concerned by Monday's attacks. On 7 November, the EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy expressed deep concern regarding a series of explosions that killed two civilians and seriously injured a third in Bahrain on 5 November. According to a spokesman quoted in a press release, Ashton strongly condemns these acts of violence and “expects all sides in Bahrain to do the same”. The spokesman explained that “a solution to the current difficulties in Bahrain can only be found through constructive dialogue. The expression of peaceful opposition, including the right to demonstrate, must remain legitimate. Resorting to violence will only create additional obstacles to a long term solution”. Five improvised explosive devices (IEDs) exploded one after the other on Monday in the Bahraini capital of Manama. The authorities have accused Hezbollah of carrying out the attacks. (CG/transl.fl)
