29/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - Strengthened cooperation with Eurocontrol. EU transport ministers have given their support to strengthen cooperation with Eurocontrol, the European organisation responsible for organising air navigation safety. On Monday 29 October during the Transport Council, they voted in favour of signing the agreement with this organisation and which effectively puts in place a framework setting out modalities for cooperation and the different fields concerned. Eurocontrol will remain an important actor for implementing the Single European Sky for which it manages air traffic control. The framework calls for civil-military coordination of air traffic and pan-European coordination with third countries. Nonetheless, the agreement ensures that Eurocontrol and the European Aviation Safety Agency do not encroach on each other. (MD/transl.fl)
