Negotiations on fisheries resume

Brussels, 29/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - On 8-9 November, the European Union and Morocco will resume their negotiations for a new fisheries agreement. This news was announced in the Moroccan press, which quoted the European Commission spokesperson for fisheries, Oliver Drewes. It was also confirmed by the EFE agency, which added that the Spanish minister for agriculture, food and the environment, Miguel Arias Cañete, declared in a backdrop to the recent “Fisheries” Council session in Luxembourg that “progress” had been observed in the discussions with Morocco. In the same interview, the minister criticised the lack of progress in negotiations on the fisheries agreement with Mauritania. He called on the Commission and the European Parliament to improve the offer on the table. (FB/transl.fl)
