Brussels, 01/10/2012 (Agence Europe) - On 28 September, the European Commission cleared the takeover of the German milk producers cooperative, Milch-Union Hocheifel (MUH) by its rival Arla Foods, owned by Danish, Swedish and German producers. The investigation focused on the consequences of the operation on the market and areas of activities where overlapping could arise: procurement of raw milk (Germany), long life milk (Germany, Denmark, Sweden and the United Kingdom), milk creams, condensed milk and long life cream for coffee (EU, Germany, Denmark and Greece) and the supply of long life flavoured dairy drinks (EU, Germany, Denmark and Sweden). According to the Commission this will not create any competition problems. (FG/trans/fl)
