The permanent partnership council between the EU and Russia will take place in Cyprus on Wednesday 3 October to define the priorities and monitor the progress of the cooperation on freedom, security and justice. This cooperation has increased rapidly over recent years and is now a key element in the development of the strategic partnership, says the Presidency of the Council, the Republic of Cyprus. This cooperation concerns the way for the EU and Russia to take in order to construct a new unsplit Europe, and to facilitate the travel of all Europeans, while creating conditions for an effective fight against illegal immigration. It also concerns how to highlight common challenges such as organised crime and terrorism. (CG/transl.fl)
