27/09/2012 (Agence Europe) - Ashton to meet Lavrov on 14 October. On Sunday 14 October - the day before the Foreign Affairs Council - Russian Minister for Foreign Affairs Sergei Lavrov will meet his European counterparts and High Representative of the EU for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Catherine Ashton in Luxembourg. Over dinner they will discuss foreign policy questions including Syria, the Middle East, the Iranian nuclear programme and possibly also the situation in the Balkans. According to Lavrov, the meeting will also serve to continue the dialogue on the preparations of the EU-Russia summit which will take place in December. “We have agreed (…) to give particular attention to the structure of Russia-EU relations”, Lavrov said, after a meeting with Ashton on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.
