Brussels, 27/09/2012 (Agence Europe) - According to an EASO press release, the European Agency for the Management of External Borders, Frontex and the European Asylum Support Office (EASO) signed a cooperation agreement on Wednesday 26 September aimed at deepening their mutual ties. The two organisations will in particular step up cooperation in the field of reception and care of migrants, as well as the detection process for those requiring international protection. The work agreement was signed in Warsaw, where Frontex is based, and stipulates that the two agencies will improve their coordination with regard to the assistance provided to countries experiencing difficulty, setting up expert teams, risk analysis and providing statistics. Frontex has observer status at EASO and the latter is expected to become a permanent member of the future forum on fundamental rights at Frontex, as laid down in its new rules. (SP/trans.fl)
