Brussels, 15/06/2012 (Agence Europe) - Bidding started on Friday 15 June for the European Green Capital 2015, a title granted by the European Commission for cities which lead the way in respecting the environment and which can serve as examples for a greener lifestyle. The idea was launched in 2006 during a conference in Estonia where 15 European cities signed a memorandum of understanding. Thus far, four cities have held the title, namely Stockholm, Hamburg, Vitoria Gasteiz and Nantes. The Green Capital for 2014 will be unveiled on 29 June 2012. (EL/transl.fl)
