01/06/2012 (Agence Europe) - Guy Ryder future head of ILO. The International Labour Office (ILO) is to have a new director general who is due to take up his duties this October. Elected on Monday 28 May, the former British trade unionist, Guy Ryder, whom the European Trade Union Confederation (ETUC) describes as an ardent defender of social dialogue, will thus replace the incumbent director general, Juan Somavia of Chile, who will have served at the post for 13 years.
