Brussels, 30/05/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Wednesday 30 May, the European Investment Bank (EIB) decided to lend €55 million to Cargotec, one of the world's largest suppliers of goods handling equipment and services, to fund research and development (R&D) activities for cargo handling solutions and related technologies.
The EIB's involvement will help to reinforce R&D in new technologies and new loading equipment for applications designed for the industrial and road transport sectors, and for the handling of containers and maritime cargo at sea and in port. The EIB funding will also cover testing material and infrastructure for Cargotec's new Technology and Competence Centre in Tampere (Finland).
This operation, which is likely to have positive effects on the environment and employment as well as on innovation, is in line with the EIB's lending priorities under the EUROPE 2020 strategy. (OL/transl.fl)
