Brussels, 11/05/2012 (Agence Europe) - “Members wish to continue to explore any opportunities to gain the necessary traction and make tangible progress soon” in the Doha Round trade liberalisation talks, said WTO Director General Pascal Lamy on 2 May. At the recent meeting in Puerto Vallarta (Mexico), G20 trade ministers supported giving “fresh impetus to the Doha negotiations towards results in areas with potential for prompt resolution - such as trade facilitation - while intensifying efforts to find creative ways and approaches to overcome the most critical and fundamental stalemates in specially challenging areas”, he said. In addition to the trade facilitation, member states still have to resolve their differences on agriculture and industrial goods (NAMA), services, rules, trade and environmental, geographic indications, special and differential treatment and dispute settlement.
