Brussels, 12/04/2012 (Agence Europe) - A meeting of professionals in the cinema and audiovisual industry in the Euro-Mediterranean area took place in Rabat (Morocco) on 11 April. The conclusions of the meeting called for there to be better dialogue in order to improve the legal framework for their activities. This relates, in particular, to public service media. The conclusions call for appropriate support for copyright and intellectual property protection laws. They also want piracy to be addressed more effectively.
Tender and project selection procedures should be brought into line with international standards. The promotion and profile of works and artists, both domestically and on the international market, should also be enhanced, and funding increased for the various stages of local and international promotion and distribution of audiovisual works, taking account of needs in terms of dubbing and sub-titling. The call was also issued for there to be continuing training in coproduction for producers. The desired cooperation will also ensure transfer of know-how within the various audiovisual specialisms in the light of technological change. (FB/transl.rt)
