Brussels, 27/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 26 March, EU Commissioner for Enlargement Stefan Füle called on Croatia to “to be able to make the most of the advantages offered by the Structural and Cohesion Funds”. The commissioner was speaking at the end of his meeting with the Croatian minister for regional development and European funds, Branko Grcic. Füle underlined “the necessity to keep reinforcing Croatia's administrative capacity. This is crucial for a sound and efficient implementation of its future cohesion policy.”
The commissioner also emphasised that Zagreb was “overall on track with its preparation for membership”, but that he still expected further progress.
Füle and Grcic examined ongoing preparations for Croatia's accession in the areas of regional policy and coordination of structural instruments, in addition to the way in which pre and post-accession funds for Croatia have the potential for improving the Croatian economy, creating jobs and improving living conditions.
