Brussels, 19/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - On Monday 19 March, several European leaders condemned the shooting that day in Toulouse (France) at the Jewish school, Ozar Hatorah, which left four people dead, including three children, with one other in a critical condition, according to reports by AFP. The gunman arrived at the scene of the crime on a scooter or motorbike and opened fire on all those in the school at the time.
On her Twitter page, European Commissioner for Home Affairs Cecilia Malmström denounced the “horrible” crime, and President of the European Commission José Manuel Barroso firmly condemned “this hateful crime” and expressed “the horror that we all feel at this blind violence. Nothing is more intolerable than the murder of innocent children.”
The president of the European Council, Herman Van Rompuy, also stated: “I am shocked by the attack committed today against a Jewish school in Toulouse and I condemn it in the strongest possible terms. This attack against a school and against children is an odious crime.”
The head of the EPP at the European Parliament, Joseph Daul from France, said that he was “deeply upset by this news… a normal Monday morning at school has been transformed into a terrible tragedy. I totally condemn this cowardly unspeakable attack against innocent children, who have nothing at all to do with political or religious disputes”, he said in a press release. (SP/transl.fl)
