Brussels, 19/03/2012 (Agence Europe) - Two days from the World Day against Racial Discrimination, the European network RED (Rights, Equality and Diversity), which combats discrimination in the EU, launched its early warning mechanism, in Brussels on 19 March. This is a mechanism that will allow relevant players to put down in a database all the incidents related to discrimination, from violent events targeting specific groups to the responses from political powers to such incidents. The mechanism should shed light on discrimination in the EU. The RED network has also launched its “Red Atlas”, which will make an annual and country-by-country assessment of all relevant legislation and draw up statistics, for example on racial crime observed in EU member states. The RED project brings together 18 organisations from 17 member states and is co-funded by the EU. (SP/transl.jl)
