Brussels, 23/02/2012 (Agence Europe) - The European Institute of Innovation & Technology (EIT) revealed the three winners on 21 February of its entrepreneurship awards, which were presented by European Education Commissioner Androulla Vassiliou.

Three start-up companies, Naked Energy (United Kingdom), Trifense (Germany) and Noem (Spain) won the awards in their respective areas: climate change, information technology and sustainable energy. UK company Naked Energy develops solar technology for the production of electricity and heat; Trifense of Germany specialises in protecting computer networks against cyber threats; while Noem from Spain is a company that uses sustainable wooden materials for construction.

Vassiliou and her colleague at Research, Maíre Geoghegan-Quinn, were to meet the representatives of research institutes and universities and young entrepreneurs in Berlin on Thursday 23 February to learn about what they are doing in climate change and information and communication technology.
