Road Transport Conference Brussels wants green transport

Brussels, 24/02/2012 (Agence Europe) - European road transporters will go at it again when they meet in Brussels for their second 1RU-EU Road Transport Conference on 29 February. Under the auspices of the Danish Presidency of the EU Council and the European Commission, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) is organising the event which is to demonstrate the sector's determination to achieve greener transport, according to the Commission's White Paper on Transport which was published a year ago. Transport Commissioner Siim Kallas and Danish Transport Minister Henrik Dam Kristensen will be working alongside IRU President Janusz Lacny. Solutions envisaged for making road transport greener include alternative fuels, collective passenger transport, an incentive strategy to achieve sustainable transport development and the European modular approach.
