23/02/2012 (Agence Europe) - Request for accession by end of June. On Tuesday 21 February, the prime minister of Bosnia and Herzegovina announced that his government intended to meet the conditions set out by the EU next month and request accession by the end of June. Vjekoslav Bevanda informed Reuters: “I expect that we will be able to fulfil the conditions for submitting our EU accession request by 30 June.” The country's leaders also succeeded in pushing through a political agreement last December for the formation of a central government and the adoption of two laws on the census and state aid. These laws were considered as essential factors for relaunching the request for accession. The parliament also has to finish its work on the harmonisation of the constitution with European standards on human rights, the remaining EU condition, he added. (CG/transl.fl)
