12/01/2012 (Agence Europe) - High speed rail in UK. The United Kingdom is to launch a high speed rail link. The £33 billion project was approved by the Ministry of Transport on Tuesday 10 January. The link will connect Britain's two largest cities - London and Birmingham - by 2026. The NGO Friends of the Earth acknowledges that the high speed rail link will make for greener mobility, but regrets that investment is not being used to support local train and bus services.
