Brussels, 04/01/2012 (Agence Europe) - As far as audiovisual and media policy is concerned, the Danish Presidency of the EU Council will continue discussion on the proposal put forward by the European Commission on a framework programme for a creative Europe.
Work will also relate to the new programme for the cultural sector, which aims to step up investment in crossborder cultural projects and the MEDIA and MEDIA Mundus programmes, the aim of which is to provide support for audiovisual professionals in Europe. Furthermore, the Danish Presidency will continue work on digitalisation and online accessibility of cultural material, and on digital preservation.
Digital strategy above all provides for use to be made of the digital possibilities provided for enhancing cultural content. Discussion between member states will continue under the Danish Presidency in order to take the process forward. A key element of the strategy is the creation of the European public digital library, Europeana. (IL/transl.jl)
