Brussels, 13/12/2011 (Agence Europe) - The carbon footprint of high speed rail can be up to 14 times less carbon intensive than car travel and up to 15 times less than aviation even when measured over the full life-cycle of planning, construction and operation. Three associations representing the interests of the rail sector have commissioned a study, the results of which show the advantages of high speed rail over road transport or aviation in terms of carbon footprint.
