Brussels, 31/10/2011 (Agence Europe) - The European Parliament (EP) called on Thursday 27 October, for the release of human rights activists in Bahrain and of psychoanalyst Rafah Nashed in Syria.
MEPs condemned the repression of citizens in Bahrain and called for the “immediate” and “unconditional release” of all peaceful demonstrators, political activists, human rights defenders, doctors and paramedics, bloggers and journalists. They urged the Bahraini security forces and authorities to put a stop to violence, repression and detention of peaceful demonstrator and called for dialogue to reform the country.
The EP called on Syria “immediately and unconditionally to release” Rafah Nashed, who was arbitrarily arrested and detained on 10 September. Parliament expressed its gravest concern about her precarious state of health. It called on the Syrian authorities to allow humanitarian organisations and doctors to treat the victims of violence, without fear of reprisals and free of all restrictions. (CG/transl.rt)
