Brussels, 29/09/2011 (Agence Europe) - On Thursday 29 September 2011, the European Commission sent a “reasoned opinion” to Spain, enjoining it to remedy shortcomings in its application of the animal welfare directive when it comes to slaughter and also to properly implement the EU regulation animal welfare inspections.
If Spain fails to respond satisfactorily within two months, the Commission may decide to take it to the European Court of Justice.
