26/09/2011 (Agence Europe) - BMW/ING Car Lease. On 23 September, the European Commission gave authorisation to the acquisition of ING Car Lease, owned by Dutch bank ING and active throughout Europe, by German car manufacturer BMW, which also leases out cars, mostly through its Alphabet subsidiary. During the Commission's investigation, it examined whether ING's current competitors would lose access to BMW cars as a result of the deal, but concluded that the bought-up company would not be large enough to eliminate competitors and such a move would not be in its interests, given its position on the markets in question and therefore decided that the deal, notified on 22 August, would not hinder competition in the European Economic Area.
