23/09/2011 (Agence Europe) - New joint-venture in digital cinema in USA. On 22 September, the European Commission authorised the creation of a joint-venture in the sector of digital cinema between American companies in the cinematographic and televisual sector: AMC Entertainment Inc., Cinemark USA Inc., Regal Entertainment Group, Universal City Studios LLC and Warner Bros. The first three are active in distributing films to American movie theatres, whilst Universal, Warner Bros and their parent companies Comcast and Time Warner operate in cinema and television production, entertainment and publishing. The new company, which will be known as Digital Cinema Distribution Coalition LLC Cinema LLC, will be active in the digital distribution of films for cinema. (FG/transl.fl)
