27/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - Most Croats support accession. Croats supporting accession to the EU number 52%, according to an Ipsos Plus Institute poll carried out on 1-20 July at the request of the Croatian Foreign Ministry. More specifically, 34.1% of those surveyed said they would “definitely” vote for accession if a referendum were to be held now, and 18% said they would “probably” vote for accession. Almost 38% of those polled said they would vote against accession and 10% held no opinion. This is the first time since December 2010 that support for accession has risen above 50%. On 30 June, Croatia concluded its EU accession negotiations. Under the terms of a Croatian parliament decision, a referendum on accession must be held within 30 days of the signing of the treaty of accession, which is scheduled for December. (O.L./transl.rt)
