20/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - Copa calls for 100% compensation for producers' losses. On Tuesday 19 July, Copa-Cogeca wrote to the Presidency of the Council to ask for 100% compensation for the losses of fruit and vegetable producers. The aid of €210 million “will not be nearly enough to compensate producers for their huge losses”, says Copa, which is also calling for: - a second package of measures for producers, together with an additional budget to finance these, for an extended period until 31 July; - an additional payment of €30/100 kg on top of the maximum amount of EU support provided for peaches and nectarines which have been withdrawn from the market; - a system which applies retroactively from the period from 26 May to 18 June.
