19/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - Construction output down in May. According to a first estimate published by Eurostat on Tuesday 19 July, construction output was down by 1.1% in the eurozone and by 0.9% in the EU in May 2011, compared to one month earlier. Large decreases were registered in Slovenia (-9.8%) and the Netherlands (-2.3%), and the highest increases were in Hungary (+6.5%) and Poland (+3.7%). In annual terms (May 2011/May 2010), production was down by 1.9% in the eurozone and by 1.0% in the EU. The largest decreases were in Slovenia (-30.1%), Spain (-17.3%) and Bulgaria (-16.5%), and the largest increases were in Poland (+24.7%) and Sweden (+11.2%). (O.L./transl.jl)
