19/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - Delegation to Palermo for event dedicated to memory of Judge. The European Parliament and a delegation of MEPs from the culture committee will be taking part in an event lasting a number of days that focuses on the memory of the Italian judge, Paolo Borsellino, assassinated by the Mafia on 19 July 1992. A number of Italian ministers and thousands of citizens have been following the many events organised to mark this occasion. The delegation, led by Lothar Bisky (GUE/NGL, Germany), lay a laurel wreath sent by the president of the parliament, Jerzy Buzek, at D'Amelio road, the exact place where a car bomb killed the judge and five police officers protecting him. During its mission in Palermo on Monday 18-Wednesday 20 July, the delegation will examine European projects set up relating to education, the law and the protection of cultural heritage.
