Brussels, 19/07/2011 (Agence Europe) - The Digital Agenda for Europe is a tool for implementing the radio spectrum policy programme, network neutrality and the reduction of roaming costs. These are priorities for the Polish Presidency in the field of telecommunications and digital strategies. These priorities were presented to the European Parliament's industry, energy and research committee last week by the Polish minister for infrastructure, Cezary Grabarczyk, and the vice minister for home affairs and administration, Piotr Kolodziejczyk (in charge of telecommunications and the information society respectively). Grabarczyk declared that “the digital revolution can help Europe find a way out of the crisis”. He added that working together optimistically could also bring positive results. Kolodziejczyk referred to the question of cyber security and administrative development, which could also help towards building digital trust among citizens.
The Polish Presidency will attempt to ensure continued progress in implementation of the Digital Agenda objectives. In this perspective, it will focus its attention on Commission activities as part of the first strategy evaluation, which was set up a little over a year ago. It will also focus on online administration as part of the e-Government European action plan (2011-2015) and action taken by member states to develop high-performance online services, geared to the needs of users and industry, within a cross-border dimension. The question of online security and data protection is another important subject on the Presidency agenda. It will endeavour to undertake specific work towards developing the objectives of the European agency in charge of network and information security (ENISA). (I.L./transl.fl)
