Brussels, 16/05/2011 (Agence Europe) On Monday 16 May, the European Investment Bank (EIB) stood alongside the Catholic University of Louvain (UCL) to pledge its support for a major investment programme planned by UCL between now and 2015, to modernise part of its teaching and research infrastructure and to build student accommodation. The schedule for this investment represents some €170 million, of which nearly €100 million has already been the subject of a decision by the board of administration. The official signature of the EIB funding, worth €80 million, took place this Monday in Louvain-la-Neuve, at a ceremony attended by Philippe Maystadt, President of the EIB, Bruno Delvaux, Vice Chancellor of UCL and Dominique Opfergelt, Chief Executive Officer of UCL. This collaboration is a first in the field of education in the French-speaking community of Belgium, both for the EIB and UCL. (O.L./transl.fl)
