13/05/2011 (Agence Europe) - Call for the release of Turkish journalists. Hélène Flautre (Greens/EFA, France), who co-chairs the EU-Turkey joint parliamentary committee, has had a meeting with two Turkish investigative journalists being held in Silivri Prison in Istanbul. The meeting, which lasted more than two hours, took place on Saturday 7 May, during a visit by Flautre to Turkey. In a press release, the MEP says that she was pleased with arrangements for the meeting, but expressed concern about freedom of expression and freedom of the press in Turkey and called for the two journalists, Ahmet Sik and Nedim Sener, to be released immediately.
