19/04/2011 (Agence Europe) - GFE: Italy needs Europe. GFE, the Italian Young European Federalists movement, advocates a federal European government and a European immigration policy. That is its reaction to the controversy over Italy's membership of the EU resulting from what is viewed as Europe's inadequate response to the huge wave of immigrants arriving in Italy from North Africa. Rejecting any notion of leaving the EU, GFE calls on Italy to give up on any illusion of being able to manage on its own and to return to its role as a country which promotes European integration: “It is up to Italy once again, immediately, to inspire the federal unification of Europe”.
